Houzan Chawan – Gold

A beautifully crafted tea bowl for matcha from Houzan-san in Shigaraki. An earthy gold textured glaze yields a fine feel as you sip your frothed matcha.

Houzan hails from Shigaraki, Japan which is home to one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. His work is such that when you hold any of his pieces, you can feel the intention of tea making within. Difficult to explain in words, but easy to understand once you pour or drink from a tea vessel.
