Houzan Chawan – Cracked Glaze

This bowl is perfect for Chanoyu, the Japanese Tea Ceremony, or a casual cup of matcha. The fine craftsmanship and beautiful blue-green glaze gives this bowl a great feel in your hands and a cracked glaze that adds character with use.

Houzan is the maker of this fine vessel. He built his kiln in Shigaraki, Japan, home to one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. His work is such that when you hold any of his pieces, you can feel the intention of tea making within. Difficult to explain in words, but easy to understand once you pour or drink from a tea vessel.
