A traditional vessel for serving tea in China, this gaiwan (literally “lidded bowl”) features a painted landscape on white porcelain.
We chose this gaiwan because of its shape; it is well designed with a flat-style that makes it easier to pour your tea, even at high temperatures.
Traditionally for green tea and drank straight from the gaiwan (using the lid to push back the tea), it has become a popular “teapot” for gongfu tea. We’ve seen it in Anxi for Tie Guan Yin, Pinglin for Bao Chung, and of course in Yunnan for Puer and Green tea.
