Pinglin Red Oolong

Wen Shan region of Pinglin, Taiwan.

A heavily oxidized oolong tea that bridges the gap between oolong and black tea, our red oolong has aged nicely at our Teahouse this past year.

As the name suggests, it creates a deep red cup, reminiscent of a high-grade Chinese black tea (or the now-famous Taiwanese Sun-moon Lake hong cha).  Notes of maple, dried plums, and dark raisins create a sweet full bouquet. But there’s more to it…the oolong side still hangs on with a bright finish (but not tannic or bitter) with notes of allspice and lush figs.

Definitely an interesting tea that will age well.
