Mugicha

Mugicha (麦茶, むぎ茶) is a Japanese herbal tea made from roasted unhulled barley grains.

When left whole, mugicha yields a mellow amber cup with sweet, toasty notes. Gently crushing the grains creates a stronger, earthier cup with notes of dark roast coffee.

A great caffeine-free option with a strong toasty aroma when steeped hot, with or after a meal to aid with digestion.

Iced mugicha is especially popular across Japan, China, and Korea as a refreshing summer drink.
