Houzan Dragonfly Teaset

It is truly lovely to see this teaset as it seasons with age…the more you use it, the more character it gives, and the more beautiful it becomes. Notice the light crackle glaze inside the cups…those darken considerably. The textured outer service darkens in an artful manner (and feels magnificent to the touch. Each one becomes truly unique with time (…ah, the lessons in a teapot!).

This set was custom made for us during our 2019 visit to Sawa Houzansan in Shigaraki, Japan. During our visit, his wife offered to paint dragonflies on the cups, so we were quite excited to include this wonderful touch!

The teapot pours beautifully with the bamboo handle, expertly shaped spout, and built in strainer…looking closely, one can see so many touches of a master potter.
